NET Ministry – A special thank you goes to NET Ministry for leading our Middle School retreat last week.  We are glad to continue our partnership.  Our students have always enjoyed Net Ministries and had a wonderful experience again this year!

 

New Student Teacher/Campus Sub – We are excited to announce the arrival of Mr. Bestvina who will serve as Student Teacher and Campus Substitute for the remainder of the school year!  Mr. Bestvina will be placed in the 3rd grade classroom as he works towards completing his final teaching certificate requirements.  He has served as a substitute teacher within the Archdiocese of Seattle Schools as well as several surrounding school districts.   

 

Librarian – A special thank you to our current librarian/alumnus Stephanie Janik, who has been our librarian for 4 years.  We will be in need of a new librarian as her daughter will be graduating next school year.  Anyone interested in becoming our new volunteer librarian, please contact the school office.  Shadowing opportunities are available with Mrs. Janik.   

 

CYO Track & Field –Boys and girls CYO track season is here.  If your child is in Grades 3-8 we encourage them to come out for track.  It is a great community building CYO event that unites all the St. Pius X population across all the grades.  Practice times will be on Wednesdays & Thursdays from 3:30 – 5:00 PM.  Track will begin this Wednesday, April 25th at 3:30 PM

 

NOTE:  3rd Grade participation will be based on the size of the 4th Grade boys and girls teams.  With 3rd Grade participants each team would be allowed a maximum of 8 members for a meet.  It

 

 

has never been an issue in the past as we have always been able to have people participate so if they want to participate I encourage them to sign up.

May 5:  Preliminary Meet

May 12:  Relay Meet

May 19:  Qualifying Meet

June 2:  Championship and All Comers Meet

 MAP Testing – Our Spring testing dates this year will be from April 30th – May 4th for Grades 2 – 5 and from May 7th – May 11th for Grades 6 – 8.  Please do not schedule any appointments during this time as it is difficult to make up a retest time.  To ensure that your child(ren) does good on

their tests please make sure that your child(ren) are well rested and have a nutrious breakfast.    MAP testing is a computerized assessment that replaced ITBS testing throughout the Archdiocese of Seattle.  As a result students, parents and teachers will receive immediate scores and be able to track student growth more effectively. 

 

May Crowning – At the First Wednesday Mass on May 2nd at 9:00 AM, the 8th grade students will crown the statue of the Blessed Mother in the church.  Students are asked to bring a flower to put in vases that surround the statue to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary.

 

Pancake Breakfast – Our last Pancake Breakfast is on Sunday, May 6th after the 9:00 & 11:00 AM Masses.  As always, we need your help in making this a fun and successful event.  Calling all parents who may not have met their Volunteer Hours yet to come and join us!  And even if you have given more than enough volunteer hours but just want to do more for our school – and hang out with a fun group of parents – come and help us cook, serve, clean up and enjoy our delicious Pancakes, Eggs & Sausages!  The Sign Up sheet is available online.  Please follow this link: http://signup.com/go/CKkKG7.

 

Raffle Tickets – Keep selling those Raffle tickets!!  Each student in required to sell 50 raffle tickets, maximum 100 raffle tickets per family.  Each ticket costs $1.00.  The monetary prize is 1st Prize - $1,000; 2nd Prize - $250 and 3rd Prize - $100.  This is one of our major fundraisers for the school.  The Raffle drawing will be held on Sunday, May 6th, 2018 at 1:00 PM.

 

Science Fair/Egg Drop – Thursday, May 10th will be the St. Pius X Science Fair 2018!  Students will bring their tri-fold boards to show their findings on their experiments. Their presentation boards will be set up all afternoon from 3:30 – 6:00 PM for viewing.  At 6:00 PM we will have the Egg Drop!  Please note that on Thursday, April 26th the students in Grades 4-8 must have their results and conclusion prepared.  We will be checking in with the students during lunch and lunch recess.
