At St. Pius X School, we believe in educating the whole child in a safe and loving environment. With thoughtful design for hands-on activities encouraged for our young minds to explore, we foster a warm setting for endless possibilities. Our curriculum is designed with age-appropriate activities where we meet the child where they are at and work with parents to reach goals, while acheiving preparedness for Kindergarten academics and social readiness. We provide full & half-day programs in our accredited PreSchool (3-year old) and PreKindergarten (4-year old) classrooms.
We are an academic preschool that centers around play-based learning. Children learn best while being engaged in a fun learning environment that keeps them motivated. We also focus on the social-emotional growth that is needed as students ascend and prepare for Kindergarten.
We are excited to offer a preschool program that is a part of a diverse community; and one that exposes children to different types of classes and structure that keeps them engaged. Our staff has over 35 years of experience and more to come!

- Age cutoffs are:
- Preschool: 3 by December 31st
- PreKindergarten: 4 by August 31st
- Students should be toilet-trained by first day of class.

Intellectually/Academically: Introduction to letters and writing skills, sounds, math, number recognition, counting, shapes, graphing; working through simple addition and subtraction
- Writing (Pre-K): Using Handwriting Without Tears curriculum - start with name and alphabet recognition, moving to introduction of upper case and lower case letters, and ending with utilizing vocabularly with use of journal writing, story telling and creative writing. Twice a week we have writing unit with our Learning Resource Director, Judi Rash.

Social: Building respect through group activities that foster confidence, respect and working well with others.

Spiritually: Weekly mass, daily prayers and activities with God is Love curriculum - focusing on liturgical calendar (such as, gratitude during Thanksgiving, Holy Family during Christmas, etc)

Both preschool and prekindergarten classes combine for our specialist classes to learn and form friendships with each other. The younger children learn from the older kids and the older kids learn to help and become leaders for the preschoolers. The specialist classes available to our preschoolers are:

A great blessing in our St. Pius X School community is our "Buddies" Program. This program ties upper-grade students with younger children. Buddies remain together for the entire year - helping younger students learn social and emotional skills, while also creating a positive, sibling-like relationship with an older peer and mentor. Our buddies participate in seasonal in-class activities, sit alongside our preschoolers during our Wednesday Mass, and more!
As mentioned above, the entire school attends Mass together on Wednesday mornings - this is a beatiful experience and participation in the joy of our Catholic faith!
